This is the first picture of what Honda hopes will become the future of motorbikes. The Honda EV-Cub is an all-electric version of the company’s top selling Super-Cub, and could be on sale as early as next year.
Details are scant about the new machine, but sources say that the retro looking EV-Cub will be two-wheel drive (2WD) to offer riders more stability and traction.
In an interesting twist, Honda may also sell the bike with a quirky looking Star-Trek type communications system known as LOOP, enabling riders to communicate with one another as they whizz silently along.
In its wildest dreams, the Japanese auto giant proabably hopes that the EV-Cub will become as popular as world beating Super-Cub but, at 60 million+ units sold worldwide to date, it’s certainly got some catching up to do.
