Energy law specialist

Alan specialises in energy and competition law He has written extensively on the subject in the last two decades including in the New York Times, The Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal, as well as publishing over 50 technical papers

He has advised EU governments, corporations, as well as acting as adviser to UK and European Parliamentary Committees. He holds a PhD in EU competition law from Edinburgh. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1991, and was previously a Professor in Commercial Law at City University. Currently he is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Statecraft, London, and is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, Washington DC.
